INGREDIENTS

  • 3 unsweetened chocolate squares
  • 2 12 ounce bags of chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup canola oil
  • ¼ cup Kahlua coffee flavored liqueur (optional)

DIRECTIONS
1. Finely chop the unsweetened chocolate squares.
2. Put the chocolate squares, the chocolate chips, and the canola oil into a large, microwave safe bowl.
3. Microwave the bowl on medium high for two minutes, stir it, then continue to alternate between microwaving for two minutes and stirring until the chocolate is melted. It should be a smooth liquid without any lumps of unmelted chocolate.
4. If you are adding the Kahlua, warm it slightly and then gently stir it into the chocolate mixture.
5. Set the fountain up on a sturdy, level table so that it does not tip over, and make sure the cord is not in an area where guests can trip over it. In order to prevent the chocolate from hardening or splattering, do not put it in an area with any cold drafts or wind.
6. Pour the chocolate mixture into the bowl at the bottom of the fondue fountain.
7. Let the chocolate fondue fountain run for two minutes, and then turn it off for roughly 20 seconds, in order to get rid of any air gaps.
8. If the chocolate is not smoothly flowing through the fountain, add another ⅛ cup of canola oil to the chocolate mixture in the base.
9. Arrange platters of tasty treats around the fountain and provide toothpicks so guests can dip things into the chocolate.
